Maggie Rizer is a Doll for DIFFA

Fashion Wire Daily - New York - A few months ago designer Jason Wu turned Amanda Lepore, the notoriously naked transexual scenester and David La Chapelle "muse" of inhuman proportions, into a $250 plastic doll to raise money for DIFFA, a not for profit AIDS organization. Wu is doing it again - but this time the person he is casting into Barbie-sized proportions is of a subtler, yet equally celebrated, beauty: the strawberry-blond beauty, model Maggie Rizer.The "couture fashion doll" is based on a picture of Ms. Rizer taken by Karl Lagerfeld exclusively for DIFFA and the June 13th benefit, a 1920's themed "VIVA Glam Casino Shanghai" gala sponsored in part by M.A.C Cosmetics at New York City's Skylight Studios, where the doll will be unveiled and auctioned off with all profits benefiting the cause."I am a strong supporter of AIDS research and am honored to be able to contribute to organizations like DIFFA," said Wu via email. "It's important that we continue working for a cure."Why Maggie Rizer, you may ponder?"I am inspired by unique beauty," Wu explained. "Unique beauty requires more than just a pretty face.
