Fashion Wire Daily NY - Kim Cattrall's showing her Sapphic acting side again. After engaging in an amorous affair with Sonia Braga's character on "Sex and the City" last season, the 46 year-old siren is gearing up to play a lesbian in the New York premiere of David Mamet's play "Boston Public" at the Public Theatre this November.
Cattrall will star alongside indie actress Martha Plimpton, who herself is not a novice of lesbian performances. She played a gay feminist in the 1995 biopic "I Shot Andy Warhol."
Set early in this century, Mamet's play is the story of two longtime companions, whose "Boston marriage" -- a euphemism for a committed female relationship -- is on the rocks. The comedy premiered in 1999 at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Mass., with Felicity Huffman and Rebecca Pidgeon cast in the starring roles. Two seasons ago, it was rumored that Sharon Stone was to star in a Broadway staging of the play, but the production never came to fruition.
